a nickel on the needle...

So I found something to do with my evening (was looking for something to do in the previous post).

My basement is full of old records that my daddy collected over the years. Some of the stuff was from waaay back when he was the bachelor enticing the ladies and then there was some gospel stuff from the more settled down years. My mom and I were sorting through them trying to figure out where we could play them. Then ding ding ding a bell went off. I have a record player in my room. That was my first stereo system way back when I was like in 4th grade. It came with a record and dual cassette player AND am/fm radio. That was the ish way back when, especially for a 4th grader to have.

I was wondering if it even worked. So I plugged it in and sure enough the radio station was where I last had it on in 7th grade, a Christian rock station, hahaha. So I changed settings and I put on a test record, Rick James Superfreak, and it was working like a charm. So tonight I've listened to Ray Charles Ray Charles at Newport, Marvin Gaye's Live at the London Palladium and Midnight Love, Isley Brothers Go for your Guns, John Coltrane My Favorite Things, Etta James At Last and from my own record collection circa 1963 Christmas with the Chipmunks- Alvin Simon and Theodore with David Seville lol.

It's official I'm getting old (and I'm not even old) after playing records and browsing the other titles (Al Green, Parliament, Brothers Johnson, Ohio Players the list goes on) and then thinking about the massive 8-track collection in the other room...I was thinking of how I could have a tight basement party... I mean I have the music, a full bar and some red and blue lights (just like the ones I used to walk in on when I was supposed to be sleep lol).... hmmm we'll have to put that in the works.

goodnight
