wonderful wednesday
Today was a pretty normal day for the most part. Nothing too too exciting.
This evening my mom and I took my cousin out to dinner at Georgia Brown's in DC. It was a going away diner since my cousin is going back to Charlotte Saturday after staying with us for the past 3 months or so while she was doing an internship at the NFL. It's been an interesting experience to say the least. For one I was just getting adjusted to being back in Maryland in my mom's house and not my apartment when she came. Secondly because my brother and sister were 13 and 11 when I was born I've been sort of use to having this pseudo-only child thing since I was about seven so sharing my territory was "different" (hey what can you say I'm spoiled lol).
So anyway back to dinner. It was absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere was great and was packed for a Wednesday night (that's one place you shouldn't attempt to go to without a reservation). So on to food. I hadn't eaten today so I could indulge this evening lol. The bread, which is homemade biscuits and cornbread with honey butter... fantastic. Then we ordered appetizers and got the fried green tomatoes which were spectacular (they were stuffed with her bed cream cheese and served on a tomato relish with a lemony sauce). I noticed they had a South African Chardonnay on the wine list called Meerlust and tried it. I was glad I did. The color was beautiful, the bouquet was nutty with hints of fruit and then flavor was amazing. This is one of my new favorites. Now the food was just too good. I was going to get shrimp and grits but the chefs special for today sounded better. It was a low country mixed grill that had shrimp, andouille sausage, and a strip steak with some sort of glaze and on top of that it came with spinach and smashed potatoes. That food was sooooooooo good lol. That steak was cooked perfectly medium/medium well and everything else was just delish. Then somehow we still had dessert (I had peach cobbler) that wasn't as impressive but decent.
So after being stuffed liked pigs we drove around and saw the different Christmas tree's in DC (Georgetown, White House and the Capitol) then headed home and watched ANTM (Yaaay Eva the Diva). Then mommy and I put the finishing touches on our tree. We like to keep it simple so it's done in white lights with gold balls and then some cream and gold satin ornaments along with the few sentimental pieces (i.e. ornament I made in kindergarten, some of my grandma's antique ones, and a few angels I collected). We also put up the porcelain nativity and the mistletoe (I'm ready for my kisses lol).
Well folks. Have a good evening because I need to go to bed at a decent hour (for a change) so I can stop dreaming about all this nonsense at night lol.
